The Choral Music Department is comprised of five skill-based ensembles.  Students advance to the next level choir by demonstrating a higher understanding of the Choral Department Objectives. The five choirs are:

Bel Canto - Freshman Women's Choir, unauditioned

Men's Choir  - 9th-12th Grade Men's Choir, unauditioned

Women's Vocal Ensemble - 10th-12th Grade Women's Choir, unauditioned

Select Women - 10th-12th Grade Women's Choir, auditioned

Singers - 10th-12th Grade Mixed Choir, auditioned

**Auditions for Lake Braddock’s Select Ensembles will be held on April 24.  Auditionees will be required to sing a specific prepared piece, sight-sing, and take a basic music theory test.  See Mrs. Cartwright after 4/1 for more information.**

Opportunities

Lake Braddock’s choirs travel each spring to different parts of the country.  In 2012, we will be traveling to Orlando, FL, where we will compete in Festival Disney

Each Fall, our department collaborates with Lake Braddock’s Orchestra department to present a major work.  We have performed such well known works as Handel’s Messiah, Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy, Mozart’s Requiem, and Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms.

In addition, our select ensembles perform throughout the community, singing at parties, special events, and ceremonies.

Chorus members are eligible to audition for District, State, and Honors choirs each year.  Lake Braddock is always well represented at these events.
